Battles Involving The Ottoman Empire
The main battles in the history of the Ottoman Empire are shown below. The life span of the empire was more than six centuries and the maximum territory at the zenith of power (second half of the 16th century) stretched from central Europe to the Persian Gulf and from the Caspian Sea to North Africa. —Michel de Montaigne (15331592)

“Thy blood and virtue
Contend for empire in thee, and thy goodness
Share with thy birthright! Love all, trust a few,
Do wrong to none. Be able for thine enemy
Rather in power than use, and keep thy friend
Under thy own lifes key. Be checked for silence
But never taxed for speech.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
