Production Background
The film was screened only at his art exhibits. A fan of the Batman series, Warhol's movie was a "homage" to the series, and is considered the first appearance of a blatantly campy Batman.
The film was thought to have been lost until scenes from the picture were shown at some length in the documentary Jack Smith and the Destruction of Atlantis (2006).
Gregory Battcock appeared as "Batman". Battcock (1937-1980) was a close friend of Andy Warhol and starred in other films by the artist, including Horse (1965), Eating Too Fast (1966). His interest in cinema led him to write articles about other Warhol films such as "Notes on the Chelsea Girls: A Film by Andy Warhol" (1967), and "Warhol Film" (1968).

“The production of obscurity in Paris compares to the production of motor cars in Detroit in the great period of American industry.”
—Ernest Gellner (b. 1925)
“I had many problems in my conduct of the office being contrasted with President Kennedys conduct in the office, with my manner of dealing with things and his manner, with my accent and his accent, with my background and his background. He was a great public hero, and anything I did that someone didnt approve of, they would always feel that President Kennedy wouldnt have done that.”
—Lyndon Baines Johnson (19081973)
