Barton Line - Services

Services

Passenger services on the line are provided by Northern Rail. Freight services previously served the chemical plant at Barton-upon-Humber and the sidings at New Holland Pier. Services are operated by one Class 153 unit every 2 hours in each direction. Before Class 153s started operating Pacers and Class 150s were used. On Mondays - Saturday, the first service of the day from Cleethorpes to Barton-on-Humber, the 06:00 departure, and the 06:58 return is operated by a First TransPennine Express Class 185 Desiro unit, although this service does not call at Great Coates and Thornton Abbey due to the low platforms. New Clee is only served by trains at request only during daylight hours only. Since the closure of the chemical plant all traces of freight operation are extinct on the route, although an occasional service has operated from the bulk terminal at New Holland.

Famous quotes containing the word services:

Men will say that in supporting their wives, in furnishing them with houses and food and clothes, they are giving the women as much money as they could ever hope to earn by any other profession. I grant it; but between the independent wage-earner and the one who is given his keep for his services is the difference between the free-born and the chattel.
    Elizabeth M. Gilmer (1861–1951)

    It seems I impregnated Marge
So I do rather feel, by and large,
    Some cash should be tendered
    For services rendered,
But I can’t quite decide what to charge.
    Anonymous.

A good marriage ... is a sweet association in life: full of constancy, trust, and an infinite number of useful and solid services and mutual obligations.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
