Baran District

Baran District is a district of the state of Rajasthan in western India. The city of Baran is the districts' headquarters. In 1948, joint Rajasthan was formed and at that time Baran was one of the districts in the joint Rajasthan. On March 31, 1949, Rajasthan was reconstituted and the Baran district headquarters was converted into sub division headquarters of Kota district. Baran was carved out of erstwhile Kota district on April 10, 1991. The district got the name from the town Baran which is also the districts' headquarter.
