Famous quotes containing the words bar and/or maine:
“The bar ... is an exercise in solitude. Above all else, it must be quiet, dark, very comfortableand, contrary to modern mores, no music of any kind, no matter how faint. In sum, there should be no more than a dozen tables, and a clientele that doesnt like to talk.”
—Luis Buñuel (19001983)
“I heard the dog-day locust here, and afterward on the carries, a sound which I had associated only with more open, if not settled countries. The area for locusts must be small in the Maine Woods.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
