Banbury School - Banbury and Drayton Merger Proposal

Banbury and Drayton Merger Proposal

In April 2003, there was a proposal which suggested that Banbury School and Drayton School should be merged as one school, while Blessed George Napier School (which is situated next to Banbury School) would move to the site of Drayton School. However, this idea met with opposition from a large percentage of the community because it would have meant an increase in travelling for those students who currently attend Drayton School. Many argued that it would mean a loss of parental choice and would mean that Banbury School, which has stood at the heart of Banbury's community for many years, would lose its identity. As a result, the merger will not take place.

Famous quotes containing the word drayton:

    Since there’s no help, come let us kiss and part;
    Nay, I have done, you get no more of me,
    And I am glad, yea, glad with all my heart
    That thus so cleanly I myself can free;
    Shake hands for ever, cancel all our vows,
    And when we meet at any time again,
    Be it not seen in either of our brows
    That we one jot of former love retain.
    —Michael Drayton (1563–1631)
