Baltimore Ravens - Marching Band

Marching Band

The team marching band is called the Marching Ravens. They began as the Colts marching band and have operated continuously from September 7, 1947 to the present. They helped campaign for football to return to Baltimore after the Colts move. The Washington Redskins are the only other NFL team that currently has a marching band.

Famous quotes containing the words marching and/or band:

A common and natural result of an undue respect for law is, that you may see a file of soldiers, colonel, captain, corporal, privates, powder-monkeys, and all, marching in admirable order over hill and dale to the wars, against their wills, ay, against their common sense and consciences, which makes it very steep marching indeed, and produces a palpitation of the heart.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

What passes for identity in America is a series of myths about one’s heroic ancestors. It’s astounding to me, for example, that so many people really seem to believe that the country was founded by a band of heroes who wanted to be free. That happens not to be true. What happened was that some people left Europe because they couldn’t stay there any longer and had to go someplace else to make it. They were hungry, they were poor, they were convicts.
    James Baldwin (1924–1987)
