Ballycarry Primary School - School Inspection

School Inspection

A Department of Education (Northern Ireland) inspection carried out in October 2001 found that it "is a happy and welcoming school which enjoys the interest and strong support of its parents and governors. The staff form a hard-working team; together they have created a caring community and an attractive and orderly learning environment. The teachers relate to the children well and are committed to their well-being and development. They broaden the children's experiences through providing, for example, clubs and educational visits, links with other schools and involvement in the local community". The children themselves are found to be "pleasant, courteous and respectful ... well motivated to learn and their behaviour around the school is exemplary". However, the report also concluded that "the children have insufficient opportunity to use ICT to enhance their learning across the curriculum". As a result the school has identified the area as a priority for development and it has plans to improve the children's experiences using ICT.

Famous quotes containing the words school and/or inspection:

I’m not making light of prayers here, but of so-called school prayer, which bears as much resemblance to real spiritual experience as that freeze-dried astronaut food bears to a nice standing rib roast. From what I remember of praying in school, it was almost an insult to God, a rote exercise in moving your mouth while daydreaming or checking out the cutest boy in the seventh grade that was a far, far cry from soul-searching.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)

We had an inspection today of the brigade. The Twenty-third was pronounced the crack regiment in appearance, ... [but] I could see only six to ten in a company of the old men. They all smiled as I rode by. But as I passed away I couldn’t help dropping a few natural tears. I felt as I did when I saw them mustered in at Camp Chase.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
