Bahrain Bayan School - Activities

Activities

Bahrain Bayan School activities include Model United Nations in Bahrain and abroad, athletic activities including volleyball, basketball and football, in which the school competes against rival schools such as the Modern Knowledge Schools (MKS), IKNS, and Bahrain School, to name a few. The school also participates in the local TradeQuest programme, and has an active Student Council. The school's journalism department, which is separated into English journalism and Arabic journalism, publishes annual magazines in both languages.

The school has special days, such as Fun Day, Sports Day, and National Day, although this day is usually celebrated before the actual holiday on December 16 due to time constraints.

The school hosts plays, in English and Arabic, usually supervised by a theatre arts teacher. The latest of such was titled The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet and had an all-student cast.On Wednesdays the cafeteria has an award winning shawarma day, where there is a royal rumble to see who gets the first one. On Mondays, there is samboosa day and there is a 75 man royal rumble for the famous samboosas.

Famous quotes containing the word activities:

That is the real pivot of all bourgeois consciousness in all countries: fear and hate of the instinctive, intuitional, procreative body in man or woman. But of course this fear and hate had to take on a righteous appearance, so it became moral, said that the instincts, intuitions and all the activities of the procreative body were evil, and promised a reward for their suppression. That is the great clue to bourgeois psychology: the reward business.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

The most remarkable aspect of the transition we are living through is not so much the passage from want to affluence as the passage from labor to leisure.... Leisure contains the future, it is the new horizon.... The prospect then is one of unremitting labor to bequeath to future generations a chance of founding a society of leisure that will overcome the demands and compulsions of productive labor so that time may be devoted to creative activities or simply to pleasure and happiness.
    Henri Lefebvre (b. 1901)

Both at-home and working mothers can overmeet their mothering responsibilities. In order to justify their jobs, working mothers can overnurture, overconnect with, and overschedule their children into activities and classes. Similarly, some at-home mothers,... can make at- home mothering into a bigger deal than it is, over stimulating, overeducating, and overwhelming their children with purposeful attention.
    Jean Marzollo (20th century)
