School Curriculum

Badger Springs offers several programs designed to assist its predominantly Latino population (as of 2008 it was 70%) including AVID and MESA. Badger Springs has 54 fully credentialed teachers on staff with an average experience of 9 years.

Badger Springs currently offers Language Arts, Science, Mathematics (including Algebra 1), Social Studies, and Physical Education to all of its students. Both Social Studies and Science underwent recent new textbook adoptions, with Mathematics adopting new textbooks in the 2011-2012 school year, and Language Arts adopting new textbooks in the 2010-2011 school year.

At the end of the 2010-2011 school year, Vice Principal Pedro Gutierrez requested and received a transfer to become Vice-Principal of another middle school within the district. His reasons for the request were not made public, but the decision to make the transfer were entirely his own.

At the end of the 2010-2011 school year, Principal Rose Ann Gassr also left the school. She is now a Principal of a charter middle school outside of the Moreno Valley Unified School District. As with Vice Principal Gutierrez, Principal Gasser's reasons were not made public and the decision to leave was entirely her own. Also Mr. Barney came for a new job as a Principal.

Famous quotes containing the words school and/or curriculum:

When we were at school we were taught to sing the songs of the Europeans. How many of us were taught the songs of the Wanyamwezi or of the Wahehe? Many of us have learnt to dance the rumba, or the cha cha, to rock and roll and to twist and even to dance the waltz and foxtrot. But how many of us can dance, or have even heard of the gombe sugu, the mangala, nyang’umumi, kiduo, or lele mama?
    Julius K. Nyerere (b. 1922)

If we focus exclusively on teaching our children to read, write, spell, and count in their first years of life, we turn our homes into extensions of school and turn bringing up a child into an exercise in curriculum development. We should be parents first and teachers of academic skills second.
    Neil Kurshan (20th century)
