History
Bad Goisern is a town with a long history. It was first mentioned in the 13th century under the name "Gebisham". In 1931 Goisern became a spa-town and in 1952 it became a market town. Since 1955 Goisern is called "Bad" Goisern (Bad means bath in German and it is a title given by the government to cities with medicinal or thermal baths). A famous development is the "Goiserer Schuh", a good wearable mountain-shoe.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“A man will not need to study history to find out what is best for his own culture.”

“The history of any nation follows an undulatory course. In the trough of the wave we find more or less complete anarchy; but the crest is not more or less complete Utopia, but only, at best, a tolerably humane, partially free and fairly just society that invariably carries within itself the seeds of its own decadence.”

“The history of the world is none other than the progress of the consciousness of freedom.”
—Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (17701831)
