Paresh Rawal won awards for "Best Performance in a Comic Role" from Filmfare, Screen Weekly and Zee Cine. Johnny Lever was also nominated for Screen Weekly's "Best Performance in a Comic Role" award for his part as Chhota Chhatri. Also, the film was a semi-hit at the box office.
