June Byers 1 1960 Byers was recognized as World Women's Champion after the AWA split from the National Wrestling Alliance. Byers had defeated Mildred Burke for the NWA World Women's Championship on August 20, 1954 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Penny Banner 1 August 26, 1961 Angola, Indiana AWA ceased to recognize Byers as women's champion after she no-showed a title defense. Banner won a battle royal to become the new AWA World Women's Champion.
The AWA vacated the title in 1963. Byers continued to be recognized as champion by the NWA until she retired in January 1964.
