Avis Budget Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAR) is the parent company of Avis Rent a Car System, Budget Rent a Car and Budget Truck Rental. The company's headquarters are located in Parsippany, New Jersey, United States.
As of 2011, Avis Budget is the leading general-use vehicle rental company in North America, Australia and New Zealand.
It was announced January 2, 2013, that Avis Budget Group will purchase Zipcar for about $500 million dollars (US) in cash. Avis will complete the deal in the spring of 2013.
