Taxonomy
The Australian Pratincole belongs to the Glareolidae family. There is only one other species which is a member of the Glareolidae family, the Oriental Pratincole. The Australian Pratincole has a high taxonomic uniqueness as it is the only species belonging to the genus Stiltia within the Glareolidae family.
