Farewell! thou art too dear for my possessing,
And like enough thou know’st thy estimate:

My bonds in thee are all determinate.

When Britain first, at Heaven’s command,
Arose from out the azure main,
This was the charter of her land,
And guardian angels sung the strain:
Rule, Britannia! Britannia rules the waves!
    Britons never shall be slaves.

    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

You know you don’t have to act with me, Steve. You don’t have to say anything, and you don’t have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together, and blow.
    Jules Furthman (1888–1960)
