Australian Children's Television Foundation

The Australian Children's Television Foundation (ACTF) is a non-profit, government-funded organisation in Australia concerned with the development, production, dissemination and promotion of children's television and other audio-visual material for children.

The ACTF was established in 1982, following the recommendations of a series of reports to an Australian Senate committee concering the quality of children's television programming, and the impact of television violence upon children.

Famous quotes containing the words australian, children, television and/or foundation:

    Each Australian is a Ulysses.
    Christina Stead (1902–1983)

Every family should extend First Amendment rights to all its members, but this freedom is particularly essential for our kids. Children must be able to say what they think, openly express their feelings, and ask for what they want and need if they are ever able to develop an integrated sense of self. They must be able to think their own thoughts, even if they differ from ours. They need to have the opportunity to ask us questions when they don’t understand what we mean.
    Stephanie Martson (20th century)

We cannot spare our children the influence of harmful values by turning off the television any more than we can keep them home forever or revamp the world before they get there. Merely keeping them in the dark is no protection and, in fact, can make them vulnerable and immature.
    Polly Berrien Berends (20th century)

The institution of the family is decisive in determining not only if a person has the capacity to love another individual but in the larger social sense whether he is capable of loving his fellow men collectively. The whole of society rests on this foundation for stability, understanding and social peace.
    Daniel Patrick Moynihan (20th century)
