Australian Army Recruit Training

Australian Army Recruit Training is the rigorous course of physical and mental training required in order for an individual to become a soldier in the Australian Army or Australian Army Reserve. Currently, all Australian Army Recruit Training takes place at The Army Recruit Training Centre (ARTC) which is located within Blamey Barracks, about 9.5 km south-west of Wagga Wagga. Previously it took place at bases all over Australia. The course takes 80 days in the case of Regular Army Recruit Course training and 28 days for the Reserve Recruit Course training.

Famous quotes containing the words australian, army, recruit and/or training:

The Australian mind, I can state with authority, is easily boggled.
    Charles Osborne (b. 1927)

He could jazz up the map-reading class by having a full-size color photograph of Betty Grable in a bathing suit, with a co- ordinate grid system laid over it. The instructor could point to different parts of her and say, “Give me the co-ordinates.”... The Major could see every unit in the Army using his idea.... Hot dog!
    Norman Mailer (b. 1923)

Are we aware of our obligations to a mob? It is the mob that labour in your fields and serve in your houses—that man your navy, and recruit your army—that have enabled you to defy the world, and can also defy you when neglect and calamity have driven them to despair. You may call the people a mob; but do not forget that a mob too often speaks the sentiments of the people.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

I am not a suffragist, nor do I believe in “careers” for women, especially a “career” in factory and mill where most working women have their “careers.” A great responsibility rests upon woman—the training of children. This is her most beautiful task.
    Mother Jones (1830–1930)
