Commerce and Leisure
A large stone quarry outside the town provides local employment, as does agriculture and small-scale commercial enterprises. It has, for its size, a good number of shops and local businesses. There is a gendarmerie, La Poste and two schools, primary and secondary, which serve all of the canton and some other surrounding communes. There are two hotels, cafes, a brasserie, a gym, and two gastronomic restaurants. The leisure centre has a outdoor swimming pool with a cafe, tennis courts and a football field.
There are a number of festivals during the year, most notably the three day summer festival in August which includes a fairground, communial outdoor dining and a number of live bands and performers in the main square.

Famous quotes containing the words commerce and, commerce and/or leisure:
“While the focus in the landscape of Old World cities was commonly government structures, churches, or the residences of rulers, the landscape and the skyline of American cities have boasted their hotels, department stores, office buildings, apartments, and skyscrapers. In this grandeur, Americans have expressed their Booster Pride, their hopes for visitors and new settlers, and customers, for thriving commerce and industry.”
—Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)
“I am not able to instruct you. I can only tell that I have chosen wrong. I have passed my time in study without experience; in the attainment of sciences which can, for the most part, be but remotely useful to mankind. I have purchased knowledge at the expense of all the common comforts of life: I have missed the endearing elegance of female friendship, and the happy commerce of domestic tenderness.”
—Samuel Johnson (17091784)
“Actually, the laboring man has not leisure for a true integrity day by day; he cannot afford to sustain the manliest relations to men; his labor would be depreciated in the market.
He has no time to be anything but a machine.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
