Utilities
The bridge supports several utility services. These include water and gas pipelines, and fibre-optic telecommunications cables.
Transpower reached agreement with Transit in 2005 for the installation of cable supports beneath the bridge. Power cables operating at 220 kV are to be installed under the bridge as part of a major project to improve the security of electricity transmission to North Auckland and Northland. The cables will be installed during 2012.
