Auburn Middle School, also known as AMS, is a school in Auburn, Maine. It contains grades seven and eight. The AMS mascot is Flash the Falcon, and the school colors are maroon and white.
Students are split up into teams of around 100 students, then into homerooms on those teams, and then even further into advocacy groups. The students only stay in their advocacy groups for a short period of time in the morning. After this activity, the day is divided into academic blocks that vary by team. The U/A (unified arts) schedule rotates from Maroon to White days and these classes change every quarter.

Famous quotes containing the words middle and/or school:
“On the middle of that quiet floor
sits a fleet of small black ships,
square-rigged, sails furled, motionless,
their spars like burned matchsticks.”
—Elizabeth Bishop (19111979)
“The first rule of education for me was discipline. Discipline is the keynote to learning. Discipline has been the great factor in my life. I discipline myself to do everythinggetting up in the morning, walking, dancing, exercise. If you wont have discipline, you wont have a nation. We cant have permissiveness. When someone comes in and says, Oh, your room is so quiet, I know Ive been successful.”
—Rose Hoffman, U.S. public school third-grade teacher. As quoted in Working, book 8, by Studs Terkel (1973)
