Diet and Predation
The bird has a diverse diet, eating leaves, seeds, and insects such as grasshoppers. Their predators include Red-tailed Hawks, owls, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, Virginia Opossums, and snakes. Many young birds also die from causes such as flooding.
