Similarity and proximity have long been recognized as factors that facilitate initial attraction. Physical attractiveness of the other and reciprocal liking are important determinants. Physical attractiveness is more important predictor of attraction for men than for women. Similarity on attitudes, values and personality are more important predictors of attraction in women.
