Attic Books - Attic Book's Story

Attic Book's Story

The store originally opened in 1976 on the top floor of a building on Richmond St., which currently houses Bob Burke Jewellers. It then moved to an upper floor space on Clarence St. These locations lent themselves well to the shop’s name. In the 1980s, development in downtown London forced Attic Books out of its location, and it reopened in Parkhill, Ontario. In 1996, mayor Diane Haskett worked with proprietor Marvin Post to bring Attic Books back to London, Ontario. It is now one of the few longstanding destination businesses in downtown London.

Famous quotes containing the words attic, book and/or story:

A man should keep his little brain attic stocked with all the furniture that he is likely to use, and the rest he can put away in the lumber room of his library, where he can get it if he wants it.
    Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930)

Everything that is printed and bound in a book contains some echo at least of the best that is in literature.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Mr. Wiggam, I want you to change the policy of The Clarion. I want you to write a story I should have written myself long ago. I want you to tell the people of San Francisco that no city can exist without law and order. Write a story about that flag, write about what verifies and brings a promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. There are some people in this town who don’t seem to know that. Let The Clarion tell them.
    Ben Hecht (1893–1964)
