Attenborough, Nottinghamshire - Further Information

Further Information

The Attenborough Nature Reserve is a series of gravel pits, which have been flooded after gravel extraction and are now a haven for all sorts of birds and other wildlife.

The main commercial centre of Attenborough is around the junction of Nottingham Road (the A6005) and Attenborough Lane.

Further towards the Nature Reserve, on the other side of the railway line, is a tennis club, a private school, a cricket club, which doubles as the village green, and St. Mary's Church (the historic C of E parish church). This south-eastern part of Attenborough is bounded to the northwest by the railway line, and to the other three sides by the wetlands of the Nature Reserve. It is the historic part of the village, with 2 listed buildings as well as the listed church itself.

On the footpath that runs over the railway and onto Barrett Lane, a hoard of Roman coins was found some time ago.

Famous quotes containing the word information:

As information technology restructures the work situation, it abstracts thought from action.
    Shoshana Zuboff (b. 1951)

The real, then, is that which, sooner or later, information and reasoning would finally result in, and which is therefore independent of the vagaries of me and you. Thus, the very origin of the conception of reality shows that this conception essentially involves the notion of a COMMUNITY, without definite limits, and capable of a definite increase of knowledge.
    Charles Sanders Peirce (1839–1914)
