The Item Mall is a service provided by Nexon. In exchange for paying real money (not a virtual currency) via different possible ways like Paypal, direct debiting system or credit card players can obtain special virtual clothing, mounts, buffs etc. In compliance with the definition of 'Free to Play' (F2P) using the service is purely voluntary. There are no restrictions on Main or mercenary classes, zones, professions, PvP or PvE content that need paying for to be removed. Most of the goods offered through the Item Mall are tradable for the virtual currency of the game thus enabling players who do not wish to pay real money to buy them as well.
