Atlantic Sun Conference

The Atlantic Sun Conference (A-Sun) is a college athletic conference operating in the Southeastern United States. The league participates at the NCAA Division I level, and does not sponsor football. Originally established as the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) in 1978, its headquarters are located in Macon, Georgia.

Northern Kentucky University, which is transitioning from NCAA Division II sports to Division I, joined the A-Sun in 2012. The league's newest program replaces Belmont University, which moved to the Ohio Valley Conference, and this addition maintains the membership roster at 10 schools.

Famous quotes containing the words atlantic, sun and/or conference:

There was not a tree as far as we could see, and that was many miles each way, the general level of the upland being about the same everywhere. Even from the Atlantic side we overlooked the Bay, and saw to Manomet Point in Plymouth, and better from that side because it was the highest.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

You weep, you weep for the sun an Image.
    ...
    the wind calls hideously,
    woe for the children’s fate,
    woe for a palace rent,
woe, woe for these who spent
    life-blood
    in hate.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

Reading maketh a full man; conference a ready man; and writing an exact man.
    Francis Bacon (1561–1626)
