Atlantic Hall - Arts

Arts

The school provides tuition in art, music and drama. Music is taught throughout the school, and is compulsory for all junior students.

Drama is taught as an extempore or scripted class lesson, or in a formal play. Drama productions are staged by Junior and Senior students every year. Each year the four houses present a House Play for the Founders' Day. Supervised by teachers and professional technical crew, students write and produce plays for the Inter-house Drama competition.

Famous quotes containing the word arts:

    If we will admit time into our thoughts at all, the mythologies, those vestiges of ancient poems, wrecks of poems, so to speak, the world’s inheritance,... these are the materials and hints for a history of the rise and progress of the race; how, from the condition of ants, it arrived at the condition of men, and arts were gradually invented. Let a thousand surmises shed some light on this story.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    I too have arts and sorceries;
    Illusion dwells forever with the wave.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    If it were not for the intellectual snobs who pay—in solid cash—the tribute which philistinism owes to culture, the arts would perish with their starving practitioners. Let us thank heaven for hypocrisy.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
