Atlantic Broadband - Retransmission Disputes

Retransmission Disputes

The Cattaraugus County division of Atlantic Broadband has seen several television disputes with the stations in the Buffalo, New York market. In December 2007, WIVB-TV claimed that Atlantic Broadband is distributing WIVB's signal without "the authority to do so;" Atlantic Broadband announced it would cease carrying WIVB in favor of WSEE-TV in January 2009 with no effort to reach a deal; however, a deal was reached in January 2009, keeping both WIVB and WSEE on the air there. WIVB's sister station, WNLO, was in fact pulled from the lineups, and was not included in the carriage agreement.

WGRZ had a contract dispute with Atlantic Broadband in December 2006, although a deal was reached.
