Accidents and Incidents

  • 1989: an Atlantic Airways BAe 146-200 (registration OY-CRG, C/n / msn: E2075) aircraft failed to stop at the end of the runway and was subsequently out of service for 3 weeks.
  • At 7:35 local time on October 10, 2006, Atlantic Airways Flight 670, a BAe 146-200 (registration OY-CRG, C/n / msn: E2075) skidded off the runway at Stord Airport in Norway. Of the 12 passengers and 4 crew, 4 were killed and 12 survived with injuries. The aircraft had been chartered by Aker Kværner to fly personnel from Stavanger (Sola Airport) to Molde via Stord. The aircraft appears to have been unable to stop on the runway when its spoilers failed to extend during landing. The aircraft crossed the threshold and continued down a slope before coming to rest and catching fire.

Famous quotes containing the words accidents and/or incidents:

Depression moods lead, almost invariably, to accidents. But, when they occur, our mood changes again, since the accident shows we can draw the world in our wake, and that we still retain some degree of power even when our spirits are low. A series of accidents creates a positively light-hearted state, out of consideration for this strange power.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)

An element of exaggeration clings to the popular judgment: great vices are made greater, great virtues greater also; interesting incidents are made more interesting, softer legends more soft.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)
