Atenas

Atenas (ah-TEN-nahss) is the capital city of the canton of Atenas in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. It is also the name of the distrito (district) that includes the city. The district of Atenas covers an area of 8.93 km², and has a population of 7,716. Its name means Athens (Αθήνα), the capital of Greece.
