Power Source
It was suggested that the Astrobiology Field Laboratory use radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs) as its power source, like the ones to be used on the Mars Science Laboratory. The radioactive RTG power source was to last for about one Martian year, or approximately two Earth years. RTGs can provide reliable, continuous power day and night, and waste heat can be used via pipes to warm systems, freeing electrical power for the operation of the vehicle and instruments.

Famous quotes containing the words power and/or source:
“Knowledge in the form of an informational commodity indispensable to productive power is already, and will continue to be, a majorperhaps the majorstake in the worldwide competition for power. It is conceivable that the nation-states will one day fight for control of information, just as they battled in the past for control over territory, and afterwards for control over access to and exploitation of raw materials and cheap labor.”
—Jean François Lyotard (b. 1924)
“The practice of S/M is the creation of pleasure.... And thats why S/M is really a subculture. Its a process of invention. S/M is the use of a strategic relationship as a source of pleasure.”
—Michel Foucault (19261984)
