Associated Students of The University of Oregon - Executive Branch

Executive Branch

According to the ASUO website, the ASUO Executive is elected by the student body each year and strives to provide representation for all students on campus. It oversees the multiple appointed members (which are appointed by the ASUO President) on the ASUO staff ranging from advocates to interns and make sure the office, as well as campus operations, runs smoothly. The Executive Staff works closely with all programs, departments and committees on campus, including the UO administration to represent the voice of the students.

The current ASUO President is Sam Dotters-Katz, elected in April 2013. Sam will hold his post until May 24, 2014. According to the ASUO website, the ASUO President is the chief executive officer of the Associated Students of the University of Oregon. The President is responsible for the administration of ASUO programs, appoints members to executive, administrative and ASUO student committees,. Upon the consultation with ASUO University Affairs Coordinator, the ASUO president recommends members for the student-faculty committees to the President of the University and acts as the official spokesperson for students as a whole, within the University and in the larger community.

The position of ASUO Vice President is currently held by Greg Mills (external) and Azia Calderhead (internal). Azia Calderhead serves as an ex-officio member of the ASUO Student Senate, and Greg Mills serves as President when President Dotters-Katz is absent.

Famous quotes containing the words executive and/or branch:

She isn’t harassed. She’s busy, and it’s glamorous to be busy. Indeed, the image of the on- the-go working mother is very like the glamorous image of the busy top executive. The scarcity of the working mother’s time seems like the scarcity of the top executive’s time.... The analogy between the busy working mother and the busy top executive obscures the wage gap between them at work, and their different amounts of backstage support at home.
    Arlie Hochschild (20th century)

True variety is in that plenitude of real and unexpected elements, in the branch charged with blue flowers thrusting itself, against all expectations, from the springtime hedge which seems already too full, while the purely formal imitation of variety ... is but void and uniformity, that is, that which is most opposed to variety....
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)
