Asia Insurance Building

The former Asia Insurance Building (Chinese: 前亚洲保险大厦; pinyin: qián Yàzhōu Bǎoxiǎn dàshà) is a high-rise building formerly for commercial use, located on Finlayson Green near Raffles Place, in Singapore's Downtown Core. The Asia Insurance Building was also known as the A.I. Building, but was renamed to Ascott Raffles Place after the Ascott Group (a division of CapitaLand) completed its redevelopment of the building into a serviced apartment residence in November 2008.

Famous quotes containing the words asia, insurance and/or building:

So-called Western Civilization, as practised in half of Europe, some of Asia and a few parts of North America, is better than anything else available. Western civilization not only provides a bit of life, a pinch of liberty and the occasional pursuance of happiness, it’s also the only thing that’s ever tried to. Our civilization is the first in history to show even the slightest concern for average, undistinguished, none-too-commendable people like us.
    —P.J. (Patrick Jake)

... business training in early life should not be regarded solely as insurance against destitution in the case of an emergency. For from business experience women can gain, too, knowledge of the world and of human beings, which should be of immeasurable value to their marriage careers. Self-discipline, co-operation, adaptability, efficiency, economic management,—if she learns these in her business life she is liable for many less heartbreaks and disappointments in her married life.
    Hortense Odlum (1892–?)

The Times are the masquerade of the eternities; trivial to the dull, tokens of noble and majestic agents to the wise; the receptacle in which the Past leaves its history; the quarry out of which the genius of today is building up the Future.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
