Ashley Hansen

Ashley Hansen (born 3 March 1983) is an Australian rules footballer most known for his stint with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League. Hansen was born in Victoria, Australia and was educated at Mazenod College.

Recruited from Northvale/Oakleigh Chargers, he made his debut in 2004 in round eleven against Collingwood, after being picked number 38 in the 2001 AFL Draft. Ashley Hansen was named West Coast Eagles Rookie of the Year for 2005.

His father, Clarke Hansen, is one of the most respected AFL commentators.

Ashley Hansen kicked the two goals in the opening quarter of the 2006 AFL Grand Final, which the West Coast Eagles won by a solitary point.

Impressively, of the 14 games Hansen played the 2006 season, the Eagles have emerged victorious on every single occasion.

Round 7, 2007, saw Hansen appear in a losing side for the first time since the 2005 AFL Grand Final.

Hansen has struggled with injuries in recent years, playing 14 games or less in each of the last four seasons, with only nine in 2009. This has led to him being considered a possible trade each year, however he has remained with the Eagles for the 2010 season.

Ashley Hansen was delisted at the end of the 2010 season
