Arriva Northumbria - Coach Operations Sale

Coach Operations Sale

In December 2006, Arriva North East - operating under the Arriva Northumbria banner - sold its National Express coaching operation to Classic Coaches, owned by Tellings-Golden Miller. Ironically, Tellings-Golden Miller is now owned by Arriva.

The deal included 26 drivers and 7 coaches (Van Hool Alizée-bodied DAF SB3000 and SB4000), and routes:

  • 032: London - Southampton
  • 326: Newcastle - Cambridge
  • 425: Ashington - Newcastle - London

Famous quotes containing the words coach, operations and/or sale:

The woman ... turned her melancholy tone into a scolding one. She was not very young, and the wrinkles in her face were filled with drops of water which had fallen from her eyes, which, with the yellowness of her complexion, made a figure not unlike a field in the decline of the year, when the harvest is gathered in and a smart shower of rain has filled the furrows with water. Her voice was so shrill that they all jumped into the coach as fast as they could and drove from the door.
    Sarah Fielding (1710–1768)

A sociosphere of contact, control, persuasion and dissuasion, of exhibitions of inhibitions in massive or homeopathic doses...: this is obscenity. All structures turned inside out and exhibited, all operations rendered visible. In America this goes all the way from the bewildering network of aerial telephone and electric wires ... to the concrete multiplication of all the bodily functions in the home, the litany of ingredients on the tiniest can of food, the exhibition of income or IQ.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)

[T]he dignity of parliament it seems can brook no opposition to it’s power. Strange that a set of men who have made sale of their virtue to the minister should yet talk of retaining dignity!
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
