Army Reserve (Ireland) - Training

Training

All enlisted members of the Reserve Defence Forces (RDF) undergo recruit training on a part-time voluntary basis. This training takes place mostly on weekends. Recruits must undergo at least 14 days full-time training and pass proficiency tests on foot, arms drill, tactics and rifle training Steyr AUG to qualify as a 2 Star Private.

3 Star training includes navigation, further weapons training (GPMG), fieldcraft and tactical training and is also 14 full-time days in duration plus weekend training.

Famous quotes containing the word training:

Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man’s training begins, its probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)

... the time will come when no servant will be hired without a diploma from some training school, and a girl will as much expect to fit herself for house-maid or cook, as for dressmaker or any trade.
    Lydia Hoyt Farmer (1842–1903)

I’m not suggesting that all men are beautiful, vulnerable boys, but we all started out that way. What happened to us? How did we become monsters of feminist nightmares? The answer, of course, is that we underwent a careful and deliberate process of gender training, sometimes brutal, always dehumanizing, cutting away large chunks of ourselves. Little girls went through something similarly crippling. If the gender training was successful, we each ended up being half a person.
    Frank Pittman (20th century)
