Rank badges have a band of colour indicating branch:

  • Gold: Generals
  • Light Brown: General Staff; Presidential Guards Corps, Presidential High Command
  • Scarlet: Infantry
  • Burgundy: Artillery
  • Red-Brown: Quartermaster Command ("Materiales de Guerra")
  • Light Orange-Brown: Transportation
  • Green: Judicial Corps("Justicia"); Military Police
  • Blue: Engineers; Signals and Communications ("Transmisiones")
  • Light Blue: Cavalry
  • Light Gray-Blue: Cartography
  • Purple: Army Aviation; Parachutist Fusiliers (i.e. includes Air Force)
  • Gray: Military bands and Drummers and Buglers
  • Light Gray: Armor
  • Very light Gray: Intelligence
  • Brownish Gray: Service Corps ("Administracion e Intendencia")
  • Yellow: Medical; Veterinary Service
