Rank badges have a band of colour indicating branch:
- Gold: Generals
- Light Brown: General Staff; Presidential Guards Corps, Presidential High Command
- Scarlet: Infantry
- Burgundy: Artillery
- Red-Brown: Quartermaster Command ("Materiales de Guerra")
- Light Orange-Brown: Transportation
- Green: Judicial Corps("Justicia"); Military Police
- Blue: Engineers; Signals and Communications ("Transmisiones")
- Light Blue: Cavalry
- Light Gray-Blue: Cartography
- Purple: Army Aviation; Parachutist Fusiliers (i.e. includes Air Force)
- Gray: Military bands and Drummers and Buglers
- Light Gray: Armor
- Very light Gray: Intelligence
- Brownish Gray: Service Corps ("Administracion e Intendencia")
- Yellow: Medical; Veterinary Service
