Army Heritage Center Foundation

The Army Heritage Center Foundation (AHCF) is a membership based 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that is coordinating a public-private partnership to assist the United States Army to develop the US Army Heritage and Education Center (AHEC) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

The Foundation’s charter is to ensure construction of two of the Center’s four facilities and to develop and sustain educational resources and outreach programs. The Foundation’s other partners include the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, local governments, corporations and private citizens. The Foundation originated in 1997 and was incorporated in 1999 as the Military Heritage Foundation. In 2002, after Secretary of the Army Thomas White announced the creation of the AHEC, the Foundation assumed the “Doing Business As” name Army Heritage Center Foundation to reflect its primary focus in building support for this project. In developing the AHEC, the Foundation works with the Army to create a complex that will honor Soldiers and their families; preserves and makes available for study their artifacts, manuscripts, personal papers, photos and art; and fosters a greater awareness of the United States and US Army history.

Once the Visitor and Education Center and the Army Heritage Museum are constructed, the Foundation will concentrate on providing “margin of excellence” support to enhance the visitor experience and to develop innovative educational programs.

Famous quotes containing the words army, heritage, center and/or foundation:

    Roach, foulest of creatures,
    who attacks with yellow teeth
    and an army of cousins big as shoes ...
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

    Flowers ... that are so pathetic in their beauty, frail as the clouds, and in their colouring as gorgeous as the heavens, had through thousands of years been the heritage of children—honoured as the jewellery of God only by them—when suddenly the voice of Christianity, counter-signing the voice of infancy, raised them to a grandeur transcending the Hebrew throne, although founded by God himself, and pronounced Solomon in all his glory not to be arrayed like one of these.
    Thomas De Quincey (1785–1859)

    Thine age asks ease, and since thy duties be
    To warm the world, that’s done in warming us.
    Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere;
    This bed thy center is, these walls, thy sphere.
    John Donne (1572–1631)

    The most excellent and divine counsel, the best and most profitable advertisement of all others, but the least practised, is to study and learn how to know ourselves. This is the foundation of wisdom and the highway to whatever is good.... God, Nature, the wise, the world, preach man, exhort him both by word and deed to the study of himself.
    Pierre Charron (1541–1603)
