The Arlington Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C. crosses the Potomac River, connecting the Lincoln Memorial and Columbia Island. The northeastern end of the bridge marks the western edge of the National Mall. The southwestern end connects with Memorial Avenue, which crosses the Boundary Channel Bridge into Virginia and travels to Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County.

Famous quotes containing the words arlington, memorial and/or bridge:
“Miniver loved the Medici,
Albeit he hand never seen one;
He would have sinned incessantly
Could he have been one.”
—Edwin Arlington Robinson (18691935)
“I hope there will be no effort to put up a shaft or any monument of that sort in memory of me or of the other women who have given themselves to our work. The best kind of a memorial would be a school where girls could be taught everything useful that would help them to earn an honorable livelihood; where they could learn to do anything they were capable of, just as boys can. I would like to have lived to see such a school as that in every great city of the United States.”
—Susan B. Anthony (18201906)
“In bridge clubs and in councils of state, the passions are the same.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
