Arkansas Air National Guard

The Arkansas Air National Guard (AR ANG) is the air force militia of the State of Arkansas, United States of America. It is, along with the Arkansas Army National Guard, an element of the Arkansas National Guard.

As state militia units, the units in the Arkansas Air National Guard are not in the normal United States Air Force chain of command. They are under the jurisdiction of the Military Department of Arkansas unless they are federalized by order of the President of the United States. The Arkansas Air National Guard is headquartered at Fort Smith, and its commander is currently Brigadier General Travis D. "Dwight" Balch.

Famous quotes containing the words arkansas, air, national and/or guard:

...I am who I am because I’m a black female.... When I was health director in Arkansas ... I could talk about teen-age pregnancy, about poverty, ignorance and enslavement and how the white power structure had imposed it—only because I was a black female. I mean, black people would have eaten up a white male who said what I did.
    Joycelyn Elders (b. 1933)

By the roadside a hideous carrion, quivering
On a clean bed of pebbly clay,
Her legs flexed in the air like a courtesan,
    Burning and sweating venomously,
Calmly exposed its belly, ironic and wan,
    Clamorous with foul ecstasy.
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)

The cinema is going to form the mind of England. The national conscience, the national ideals and tests of conduct, will be those of the film.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

Most of us are aware of and pretend to detest the barefaced instances of that hypocrisy by which men deceive others, but few of us are upon our guard or see that more fatal hypocrisy by which we deceive and over-reach our own hearts.
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)
