Wierson's career began as an investment banker, working for the World Bank, ABN AMRO Bank, and JP Morgan. There has been ample speculation that Wierson was hired to lend his political and personal connections to the Dutch Banking giant ABN Amro to ensure a successful acquisition of the Brazilian retail giant Banco Real.
