Helping Pupils

The Archbishop's school is greatly known for its passion about helping disabled children, and kids who have had a difficult start in life. For 50 years they have catered to children with all abilities, ranging from 11 years of age to 19.

Some of the things The Archbishop's school does to make it easier for these children are as follows: Additional time in exams for those who need it, the use of computers for children with visual impairments, the provision of papers in alternative format and teaching assistants trained to act as scribes.

Famous quotes containing the words helping and/or pupils:

The toddler’s wish to please ... is a powerful aid in helping the child to develop a social awareness and, eventually, a moral conscience. The child’s love for the parent is so strong that it causes him to change his behavior: to refrain from hitting and biting, to share toys with a peer, to become toilet trained. This wish for approval is the parent’s most reliable ally in the process of socializing the child.
    Alicia F. Lieberman (20th century)

Close to the academy in this town they have erected a sort of gallows for the pupils to practice on. I thought that they might as well hang at once all who need to go through such exercises in so new a country, where there is nothing to hinder their living an outdoor life. Better omit Blair, and take the air.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
