Archbishop Edward A. Mc Carthy High School - Retreats

Retreats

As part of the spiritual of students at Archbishop McCarthy, a retreat open to all students is offered. These retreats help students develop a relationship with Christ beyond that which the classroom studies offer. These retreats are led by the Theology department and are as follows: Pietá for Freshman, Antioch for sophomores, Transfiguration for Juniors, and Diakonia for Seniors. Besides the Freshman retreat which is held on campus on select Saturdays, the retreats usually last about three days off campus and occur generally twice a year.

Famous quotes containing the word retreats:

Perhaps dirt is the necessary condition of beauty.... Perhaps hygiene and art can never be bedfellows. No Verdi, after all, without spitting into trumpets. No Duse without a crowd of malodorous bourgeois giving one another their coryzas. And think of the inexpugnable retreats for microbes prepared by Michelangelo in the curls of Moses’ beard!
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)

Character is higher than intellect. Thinking is the function. Living is the functionary. The stream retreats to its source. A great soul will be strong to live, as well as strong to think.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The general who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, whose only thought is to protect his country and do good service for his sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom.
    Sun Tzu (6th–5th century B.C.)
