The Arch of the Centuries is a monument at the Plaza Intramuros of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, in the Philippines that stands fifteen metres away from the university's Millenium Gate along España Boulevard. The present single structure puts together, back-to-back, the ruins of the original Intramuros arch, which faces the Main Building, and its replica, fronting España Boulevard. The arch was formerly the original entrance to the university when the campus was still in Intramuros during the years from 1611 to 1941. It was declared by the National Museum as a National Cultural Treasure on January 25, 2011.

Famous quotes containing the words arch and/or centuries:
“Concords little arch does not span all our fate, nor is what transpires under it law for the universe.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“What is history? Its beginning is that of the centuries of systematic work devoted to the solution of the enigma of death, so that death itself may eventually be overcome. That is why people write symphonies, and why they discover mathematical infinity and electromagnetic waves.”
