Arbor Milling - Tolerances and Surface Finish

Tolerances and Surface Finish

In most applications, tolerances can be held within +-0.005 in. For precision application, tolerances can be held within +-0.001 in. It is possible to have a surface finish range of 32 to 500 microinches, but typically the range is 63 to 200 microinches. Finish cuts will generate surfaces near 32 to 63 micro inches, roughing cuts near 200 microinches.

Famous quotes containing the words surface and/or finish:

If the man who paints only the tree, or flower, or other surface he sees before him were an artist, the king of artists would be the photographer. It is for the artist to do something beyond this: in portrait painting to put on canvas something more than the face the model wears for that one day; to paint the man, in short, as well as his features.
    James Mcneill Whistler (1834–1903)

Here, lads, we live by the law of the taiga. But even here people manage to live. D’you know who are the ones the camps finish off? Those who lick other men’s left-overs, those who set store by the doctors, and those who peach on their mates.
    Alexander Solzhenitsyn (b. 1918)
