Philippines and Spider Fighting
Araneus can be found in many places such as Philippines. Filipinos often use the spiders in this genus for spider fighting. They stable them in matchboxes to raise them.They take two spiders and put them in opposite direction and then tilt them to get the spider to meet. The loser either dies or falls from the stick.
