Aradale Mental Hospital - Current Use

Current Use

In 2001 the Victorian Government provided $7.4 million to NMIT to establish a campus of the Australian College of Wine on the site of the hospital. 30 hectares of vineyard and 10 hectares of olive grove were planted in 2002 and an olive processing facility and winery were later built on site. The College campus was established to provide in Victoria a world-class wine and hospitality training facility.

Ghost Tours currently operate in various original sections of the building, including Administration, men's and women's wards, chapel, kitchen, men's hospital and morgue.

A full tour of this site, as well as history, old photos, tech data, screen savers and web links is available at www.explore-aradale.com

Famous quotes containing the word current:

Men perceive that equating love and domestic work is a trap. They fear that to get involved with housework would send them hurtling into the bottomless pit of self-sacrifice that is women’s current caring roles.
    Debbie Taylor (20th century)

Phlebas the Phoenician, a fortnight dead,
Forgot the cry of gulls, and the deep sea swell
    And the profit and loss.
    A current under sea
Picked his bones in whispers. As he rose and fell
He passed the stages of his age and youth
    Entering the whirlpool.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
