Teaching Methods

The AOU teaching methods are a mixture between a distant learning system and a normal university system. Students go to the branch frequently, especially full time students, who might need to visit the branch three times a week. A quarter of their time is spent in the branch. The university also offers each student the online Learning Management System (LMS), where students can access assessment components, participants, and tutors online.

Famous quotes containing the words teaching and/or methods:

For good teaching rests neither in accumulating a shelfful of knowledge nor in developing a repertoire of skills. In the end, good teaching lies in a willingness to attend and care for what happens in our students, ourselves, and the space between us. Good teaching is a certain kind of stance, I think. It is a stance of receptivity, of attunement, of listening.
    Laurent A. Daloz (20th century)

It would be some advantage to live a primitive and frontier life, though in the midst of an outward civilization, if only to learn what are the gross necessaries of life and what methods have been taken to obtain them.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
