Ar-pi-uck-i - Personal Life

Personal Life

Arpiucki moved into the area of Big Cypress Swamp after the Third Seminole War of 1855-1858. His band included an estimated 17 warriors and a large number of women and children. He was less effective as a war leader in the Third Seminole War because of advanced age and possible senility.

Ar-pi-uck-i and his wife, Itee (half Choctaw, half Irish, born ca. 1790), had at least one daughter, Rebecca Jones. Rebecca was born in Tennessee, on January 1, 1817 and died on January 21, 1893 in Shelby County, Texas.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

The terrible thing is that one cannot be a Communist and not let oneself in for the shameful act of recantation. One cannot be a Communist and preserve an iota of one’s personal integrity.
    Milovan Djilas (b. 1911)

The record of one’s life must needs prove more interesting to him who writes it than to him who reads what has been written.
    “I have no name:
“I am but two days old.”
    What shall I call thee?
    “I happy am,
    “Joy is my name.”
    Sweet joy befall thee!
    William Blake (1757–1827)
